Some Basics Of Android Smartphones You Should Know.

SIM card and SD card

They are often confused with each other, and since they have very different functions, it is important to understand the differences between them.

Your phone company (Verizon, Tracfone, AT&T) will usually provide you with a SIM card for free, which contains information such as phone numbers and contact information. It is usually small and white in color.

Micro SD cards can be used in most smartphones and used to store items such as photos, music, videos, and documents. Micro SD cards can be purchased almost anywhere, including Walmart, CVS and even eBay. The sizes of these cards are 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, and 128 GB.

If the back of your phone can be moved, you can find the SIM card and SD card slots by removing the back of the phone. Otherwise, the small drawer on the top or side of the phone will hold the SIM card and SD card. A special key is required to open this drawer, and this key should already be included in the phone purchase.

Start Screen

The main screen is similar to a computer desktop. This is the home screen, the screen you use most often, and the phone will return to this screen whenever you press the home button. Other screens can be added to the right or left of the main screen and can be accessed by sliding your finger in any direction.

The apps installed in the Play Store will automatically appear on your home screen. You can also drag apps from the app drawer to the home screen or from one screen to another.

Your smartphone uses apps to perform various functions. These apps like to send notifications to keep us up to date. For example, YouTube will notify you that you can enjoy the video you just uploaded. The weather app will send weather-related notifications, and the messaging app will show you the message when it receives it. Swipe the comment to the right to delete it, or click “Delete All”.

Notification Bar

The notification bar is located at the top of the screen and usually displays the time, current battery level and Wi-Fi/data strength. Swipe down to expand the notification bar. After expansion, quick settings such as WiFi, data, location and Bluetooth will be displayed.

App Drawer

You can find and start any application on your phone in the application drawer. It can be accessed from the bottom of the main screen (or added content) in one of two ways:

Click the circle icon with multiple holes or dots (usually white)
Swipe up

Welcome, back and recent buttons
The home button takes you back to the home screen from any screen or application and is located at the bottom center of all smartphones.

The backspace key will take you back to the previous screen. If you answer twice, you will exit an application.

The most recent key shows all open applications. Swipe to the right to exit and close applications, or click “Close All” to close all open applications. This is very important, because not closing the application properly can greatly reduce the speed of the phone; especially after a few openings.
